About Us

Harvesting Hope Youth And Family Wellness Was Founded In 2016 Under The Direction Of
Omeaka Jackson, CEO, LCPS-S.

For the last seven years we have served over 4,619 individuals through our programs and events. We have hosted our annual Health, Wellness, and Financial Education series in February for five years. We have also hosted two youth mental health education conferences during Children’s Mental Health week.

On our journey through life we experience many things such as joy, happiness, love, excitement, challenges, and even grief. We are here to support you when things are going great and when they are not. Everyday our therapists provide support to children, adolescents, and adults on their own personal wellness journey. Our support is in the form of play therapy, expressive arts, yoga, meditation, Reiki, and talk therapy.

Our Mission

To provide behavioral health, support services and resources to the community that will enable youth and families to meet their life goals through the use of unique programs with the following principles:

Omeaka Jackson, LCPC

Omeaka Jackson, LCPC is the Founder and CEO of Harvesting Hope Youth and Family Wellness. She is a practicing Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor-Supervisor. Ms. Jackson is a current Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Play Therapy Student. Ms. Jackson has over 21 years of experience working with youth and families in many different areas. She has worked in the education, human services, community counseling and community services field with titles ranging from site director to peer leader. She began her work and gained passion for community services while working at Northern Educational Services in MA. She obtained her Master’s Degree at Liberty University, her Bachelor’s Degree at University of Maryland University College. Ms. Jackson has been volunteering with youth and families assisting with graduation, completing college applications and empowering parents with parenting and working with schools to meet the needs of their child(ren).

She has an eclectic approach to therapy. She pulls from different theoretical frameworks to meet her clients needs. She uses client centered, expressive arts, play therapy, psychodynamic, and mindfulness. She is also a Level 2 Reiki practitioner. She assist clients with identifying the root causes of their current problems and how to resolve them. Honoring her client’s life story is important. The client is the author of their life. One of her favorite quotes is “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room on earth” Mohammad Ali.

Hi, I am Janelle Parker, LCSW-C. I am an MSW graduate of the University of MD School of Social Work (2014). I have experience working with various groups such as children, families, adults, older adults, and graduate students (supervision of MSW student interns). My specialties are supporting individuals navigating depression, anxiety & loss. Preferred treatment modalities are Psychodynamic theory and CBT.

Brittany Cooper is a Licensed Certified Social Worker- Clinical. She graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Social Work. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work in 2011. She received her clinical license in 2014 and has been a Board Certified Supervisor since 2016. She has completed more than 200 continuing education hours since obtaining her clinical licensure.
Brittany has a specialization in families and children. She also has over a decade of experience treating Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant and Conduct Disorder, as well as several Personality Disorders.

With 30 years of experience working with children in the public schools as a classroom teacher and administrator, has helped frame my clinical approach. I work with children, adults, and families to become the very best version of themselves. My theoretical approach is humanistic, meeting clients where they are through positive self-regard. I believe we have within us ourselves all the resources we need to live healthy and functional lives. I use the following techniques to meet client needs:
• Cognitive Behavioral therapy Mindfulness-based therapy.
• Person-centered therapy Solutions-based therapy Play therapy.
• Trauma focused Systems therapy.

Intern

I am a Master’s level intern completing my degree in Rehabilitation Psychology. I am a passionate advocate for community well-being and mental health. I discovered early on a deep-seated interest in understanding and improving the lives of others in my hometown. I have a genuine desire to empower individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. I pursued my undergraduate education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology. I have over 8 years of experience working with youth and adults as a youth peer leader providing education on adolescent substance use prevention. My current theoretical framework includes play therapy, CBT, and family systems.

Virtual Assistant

My name is Shakima Schoolfield, I am the Virtual Assistant for Harvesting Hope Youth and Family Wellness Inc. I have worked in the healthcare field for more than 5 years. I am currently in school to obtain a degree in Medical Office Administration. As an office assistant, my goal is to add structure, organization, and creativity to our team so that we continue to thrive. I am the bridge that leads our clients and future clients to a therapist who will exceed their expectations and allow them to have a space to feel safe, seen, and heard.

Jennifer M. Lake,
M.Ed, LGPC, CTP

Jennifer is a licensed psychotherapist, reiki practitioner, sound healer, and certified trauma professional who provides behavioral health services to teenagers and adults. Before entering the mental health field, Ms. Lake worked as a school counselor and an elementary teacher in the Dorchester County Public School system for seven years. Ms. Lake earned her Master of Education degree in School Counseling and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Counseling at Wilmington University. Ms. Lake attended Bowie State University to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Jennifer likes to utilize a variety of treatment modalities to meet the needs of her clients such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and energy psychology. Jennifer aspires to create a legacy in her community by helping others heal holistically in order to become the greatest version of themselves.
